How long will my order take to arrive?
Here are the estimated shipping times for your Spotty order:
Australian Standard: Typically 2-8 business days. However, due to COVID-19, these orders may take a little longer.
Australian Express: Typically 2-4 business days. However, due to COVID-19, these orders may take a little longer.
Thank you for patience during this lockdown too. While we dispatch your order as soon as possible, we do know that waiting a little longer for your order through the post can be frustrating.
But now is the perfect time to start storing, peeling and freezing your Spotty Bananas ready to bake!
How much does shipping cost?
We have free shipping for all orders over $29.
For orders under $29, the cost of shipping is as follows:
Australian Standard: $7
For Express shipping, there is a flat rate cost of $9 per order.
Can I change or cancel my order once I've placed it?

We are pretty speedy when it comes to shipping your order so we will do our best to course correct for you!
Unfortunately, once the order has been shipped, we can’t add or remove items from it.

My parcel had the wrong address on it?
Unfortunately, once the order has been shipped, we can't change your address details. If your parcel has not yet been delivered, there are options with Australia Post to redirect your parcel in transit via this link.
Spotty Banana Bread doesn't accept any responsibility for orders placed with the wrong or incomplete address details, or for orders redirected in transit.
If a parcel is returned to us because of an incomplete or incorrect address or a failure to accept a parcel, a postage charge may be payable for the order to be resent to a new address.

Baking Tips & Tricks
Can you use an Egg Replacer? Yes and no.
Yes if you’re baking:
- Traditional Banana Bread
- Gluten Free Banana Bread
- 95% Sugar Free Banana Bread
Do not use egg replacer for our Protein Banana Bread.
Due to my high protein content, the egg replacer affects my taste and texture….sadly not in a great way that you’d expect from a Spotty product.
Can you use Frozen Bananas?
Freeze away my friend!
Overripe frozen bananas are Spotty’s soulmate and are perfect for baking!
Don’t forget to peel the bananas before freezing and just pop them in a clip lock bag for convenience.
Keen to bake me, but no ‘Nanas?
To get those green bananas on the hop, ripen them by placing them in a warm, sunny spot with another piece of ripe fruit.
If they’re digging their heels in and are still green, you might just have to hold your horses sorry.
We do not recommend baking with under ripe bananas because they have not developed their natural taste and sweetness, meaning your Banana Bread may lack flavour and sweetness.
Where to buy ripe spotty bananas from?
Ditch the major supermarkets and head to your local!
I’ve found that if you head to your local green grocer and ask if they have any overripe bananas out the back, you usually strike gold!
They often store them out the back and better yet, sell them for a discount!

How do you know if my Bananas are too ripe for baking?
That’s nearly impossible ;)
Bananas develop their taste and sweetness overtime and the general rule for baking is the riper the better!
What type of oven should I use when baking my Spotty Banana Bread?
We recommend baking in a fan forced oven at a temperature of 160°C. We know every oven performs differently and have their own little quirks, so there can be some variations in the baking time. Please keep an eye on your loaf while it’s baking and you may need to bake it slightly less or more depending on your oven.
How do I ensure that my banana bread doesn't stick to the tin?
Baking paper is your friend! We recommend lining your loaf tin to ensure that your banana bread doesn't stick. Please avoid using grease proof paper or foil as these do not have the same non-stick properties as baking paper.
What size loaf tin should I use?
We recommend a standard 20cm x 9cm sized tin.
Just a little heads up though – if your tin is oversized, your loaf will be longer and wider. Which isn’t a bother, but it may just look more like a cake rather than a loaf – still taste the same though!
Only have a small loaf tin?
No large loaf tin hiding in the back of your cupboard?
Not to worry!
Simply split the recipe in half and you’ll end up being able to bake two smaller loaves.
If you try and use the whole recipe in the one small tin, you’ll have an uncooked centre and burnt outsides! Sounds like a bad fake tan right job right?
How do I know when my banana bread is baked?
Here’s our top tips to check if your loaf is ready to roll and cooked through. Keep a look out for:
- the top crust should be fully formed and set
- the edges may have browned and be pulling away from the sides of the loaf tin
- if you gently press the top of your banana bread with your finger, it should spring back.
Take a skewer or a thin bladed knife and slide it into the centre of the banana bread.
If it comes out with the batter and/or crumbs sticking to it, then pop it back in the oven for a short time. Re-check and when your skewer comes out clean…put the kettle on, set your table and call your tribe (well that bit is optional!).
Can you use butter instead of oil to make me?
Best pop the butter back in the fridge.
Oil is what helps bake your mix into a beautiful light and fluffy loaf.
Butter will turn it into a firm loaf once you put it in the fridge, so it won’t be the best banana bread experience of your life….and we wouldn’t want that!
Can you use coconut oil instead of oil to make me?
Oooh no sorry.
Coconut oil sets hard when it cools and once you pop your loaf in the fridge it will set, making it too firm.
Best stick to Olive Oil!
Can you add extras?
The sky's the limit with the possibilities of what you can add!
Here’s a few additions to add to the mix:
- Walnuts
- Choc Chips
- Collagen (just not in the protein mix)
- Blueberries
- Raspberries
- Grated Zucchini (just be sure to squeeze out the liquid)
Just make your mix as usual then fold through ¾ cup of inclusions, or one cup if it’s the chocolate chips, right before pouring the batter in your tin.
Can you use the mixmaster / electric beaters?
Put them away girlfriend - that’s way too much effort and washing up!
Spotty mixes have been created to be a pour and bake mix using only one bowl, so swap your mix master for a wooden spoon and we’re good to go!
The electric beaters and mixmasters make Spotty loaves a little flat and unhappy as they over mix the batter and literally knock the air bubbles out ….so the loaf turns out more like the ‘little loaf that could,’....but didn’t :(
Freeze me? Yes you can!
Here’s how to freeze your loaf and make your life easier:
- Pre-slice it before going into the fridge or freezer
- Place a piece of baking paper in between each slice, so it’s a simple grab and go….not awkward jabbing of knife in between frozen slices trying to unstick it from the rest of the loaf
- Store in an airtight container
- Leave the loaf there for up to 3 months….but I promise you it will be gone in a matter of days not months!
Is Protein Banana Bread safe if I’m pregnant or breastfeeding?
We use a nutritious blend of natural and organic ingredients, and our plant protein is a pure Australian faba protein with nothing added.
If you have particular dietary needs or conditions we always recommend checking with your trusted medical advisor.
How many slices of banana bread does one loaf make?
You should get 12 delicious slices of banana bread from one loaf.
How should I store my banana bread?
Now I’m an actual loaf, I’m best kept in the fridge (1-4C) and eaten within 3 days (but I rarely last that long!).
Want me to hang around longer?
I’m happy to hang out in your freezer (-18C) with those mixed veggies and icecream for 3 months.
How should I store my dry mixes?
We’re all about keeping things dark and moody when it comes to the dry mixes, so please pop them in your pantry where it is cool and dry.
How should I store my super tasty choc chips?
Lets keep those choc chips lively and in tact, so please keep them in a cool, dark space where they are away from light, heat and moisture.
